My son was racially discriminated against by the school!! Should I sue?

Some racist white boy called by son a colored person and my son, standing up for his people, got into a fight with this kid, and threw a brick at him. guess what? Only MY son got in trouble!! The school made him write a letter of apology, and personally deliver it to the ICU. The school did not ask my permission for this, and now my baby is scarred for life by this. Can I sue them?
